You’ve heard the proverb, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. At Newcastle Place, we believe a more fulfilling and happier life is built on a healthier lifestyle. Our HealthyLife® Services philosophy focuses on the 8 dimensions of wellness — physical, emotional, spiritual, vocational, environmental, social, intellectual and health services — to promote whole-body wellness.
A big part of our wellness program includes our National Institute for Fitness and Sport (NIFS) instructor, who can create a custom health and fitness program specifically designed around your ability level and experience.
We also offer on-site medical services including a physician, optometrist, podiatrist and physical therapy. Specific programs and activities designed to encourage well-being include:
- Walking trails
- Arts & crafts studio
- Resident council and other volunteer opportunities
- Resident-run Parkinson’s and Family Caregiver support groups
- Variety of resident clubs and organizations

Opportunities to make a difference.
It’s important to the residents of Newcastle Place that we stay connected to the larger community. That’s why we offer a wide variety of resident-led community groups and organizations. We also play a vital role in providing the healing power of music to area veterans. As a local chapter of Guitars For Vets — a nonprofit organization that helps veterans cope with PTSD by teaching them guitar — we’re making a huge difference in the lives of people beyond our campus.
If you have personal fitness goals, we offer a variety of classes and a heated indoor therapy pool to help you meet them. We also have a fully furnished fitness center attached to our pool that features treadmills, ellipticals, a NuStep recumbent cross trainer, free weights, and rigid motion machines – leg press, lat pulldown, row machine.
Patrick Gilbertson, our fitness manager, is an American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) certified personal trainer. He’ll create a wellness plan that will perfectly fit your fitness level and abilities and work with you one-on-one twice a week, at no extra charge.
“We work with Newcastle Place residents to help them enjoy their lives. We get down to business, but we have fun along the way.”
– Patrick Gilbertson, Newcastle Place fitness manager.
